Description:

Tobacco pipe made of wood and other materials in the shape of a boat with an elongated canoe shape with a narrow cylindrical bowl in the center, the stern with an upward point with a curl, the rear is the mouthpiece. On the boat at the front a kind of captain's house with a sloping roof and on either side a rod window flanked by round windows, in the room is a captain, on the back half after an ornament of wood carving in which palmette shapes and a knob of whalebone depicting a palm tree are a farmer's house and a spire, the first with rod windows, the second suggesting two small vents, the boat itself on either side three elongated rectangular fields of whalebone in which again elongated rectangular fields of whalebone flanked by dots. Woodwork with colour accents in green and red paint. The bowl of the pipe is lined internally with lead with a metal outer rim.

De bootvorm zelf afgekeken van de lokale kanos, de kapitein in het scheepshuis is een hommage aan de schipper.
William Bragge beeldt in zijn Notebook (p. 31) een soortgelijke pijp af waarvan de herkomst Rocky Mountains is, later veranderd in Sitka. Bragge vermeldt een vergelijkbaar exemplaar in het ethnografisch museum in Kopenhagen. Zijn pijp werd later door het British Museum aangekocht.
Richard Quick, p 185 spreekt van Sitka in plaats van Nootka.
